Wing Plans

Supplemental plans for building the wing of the Legal Eagle XL ONLY.

Description

Wing End View

If you are building the Legal Eagle XL wings, these plans have proven to save many hours of building process time. I have drawn these to the level that you could make any part (in the plans) separately, knowing that it will fit your final assembly.  Thus you won’t have to build each part to fit the next. Many have calculated that these will save 35-45 hours of calculation/build time. Making them from free to $1.00 per hour cost. After 10 years, with printing cost rising 105% and shipping cost 27% I just can’t continue at a loss. I still hear this is well worth it for the time saved.

Supplemental plans for building the wing of the Legal Eagle XL ONLY.  IT has been asked many times, if you could build the entire aircraft based on these plans, the answer is NO.  These assume you have the Legal Eagle XL plans, and want to build the wing without questions and have a great set of full length rib drawings to build your jig from. (one with nose rib, one without- i.e. one to use, one for the wall inspiration.

Wing Plans

Plan prints included in my package are as follows:

  • 2 – full-length wing rib drawings (full-scale)
  • 5 – 2′ x 3′ drawings of wing parts and assembly ( I added one large sheet, that contains the 8.5″ x 11″ drawings, plus the one update on rib layout, in 2017)
  • 4 – 8 1/2 x 11″ drawings (now on the above sheet as noted)
  • All of the additional PDF files are based on this web site under “FREE .pdf’s”  poke around a bit and you will find them. These are added to all the time, as questions come up.
  • Price $ 43.75 plus $5.00 shipping
  • Price covers my printing and shipping cost and mailing tube. Often asked, why I don’t offer these in pdf printable format only. The answer is fairly straight forward with very few folks having printer than can stream paper for full length rib drawings or the 2’x3′ format as well. While it can be said that the 2′ x 3′ can be scaled down to 8.5″ x 11″ you quickly get the details so small that a magnifying  glass is required to view.  (these prints have lots of details on them)

Inside Aileron View of K Block – A lot of time was spent on doing the cove in this manner, though is primary function is to keep birds and bugs out of aileron pocket and probably will not increase measure-able speed. It is nice to know there is a simple way to do this. The three red lines above are alignment rods for a different area of the build only.

Not shown here: Details such as lighting holes, rib spacing, strut hanger and fill in block notices/warnings, as well as spar shape views with fill in blocks are shown in the plans. These were drawn up to assist a group of high school kids build the aircraft. It was decided for them to “learn the trade of tool (sanding, saws, gluing, stapling, jig building) use” vs all of above plus blue print understanding.   The theory was simple: If you know how to read prints but not how to use any tools, you have nothing. But if you know how to use the tools, you can then follow prints of most types.  These prints allow one to make and install most any part of the wing without question if you have in correct location. As always, deviations from any plans is up to the builder. And cannot be controlled by the plans provider/drawer/printer, etc.

With just your plans, approximate how many hours will I spend building the wing?
I have a very good understanding of aircraft design, certified private pilot. etc.

Looking forward to hearing from you..

This is almost impossible to predict or answer, as everyone works differently, I can say, the hours spent looking up dimensions will be cut to a minimum with the plans as every dimension possible to put down are on just 6 pages with all full size pieces shown with dimensions as well. I have been told and do believe I can save you 15-20 hours on the build alone for this reason.
